TD Tunga Delar Sverige AB, a Swedish wholesaler of spare parts and equipment for heavy-duty vehicles, became part of Relais Group in February 2020. Håkan Öbrink, who founded the company in 2012 together with his brother Mikael, has continued in the group ever since and works today as Product Development Manager.
For the Öbrink brothers, the choice of buyer would understand the business TD is in and was driven by long-term fit. ”Right after finding the right industrial owner, our people were the most important consideration in the whole process. We had built this company together over the years, and we wanted to be sure everyone would land in a home where they would be looked after,” Håkan says. For him, the deciding factor was that Relais was not a generic investment company but a buyer fully focused strategy on the heavy automotive and lighting aftermarket. The brothers also demonstrated their confidence in the transaction by reinvesting a meaningful share of the proceeds into Relais Group shares, underlining their commitment to the group’s long-term value creation.
Inside Relais, Tunga Delar’s trajectory has been one of consolidation and growth. The combination with Huzells into HTD has strengthened the market position and expanded the branch network from six cities to twelve. Being integrated into Relais’ broader value chain, which spans technical wholesale, the independent workshop network and the lighting business, has also opened internal supply and cross-sales opportunities that would be difficult to achieve as a stand-alone player.
The transformation has also reshaped Håkan Öbrink’s role. From managing multiple operational functions simultaneously, he has moved into a focused product development role within a broader management structure. This shift has enabled more sustainable value creation by allowing management to concentrate on their core strengths within a scalable group platform.
”It is actually much more humble to sit in one seat, in one chair, and focus on what brings the most value for the company,” Håkan reflects.
